Android is a most popular mobile operating system developed by Google.First commercial version Android 1.0 was released in September 2008 and latest one is KitKat 4.4.The Codenames for Android starts in alphabetical order such as Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, HoneyComb, Jellybean, Kitkat.

Have a quick insight into different Android versions and its features released by Google till date.

1.Codename – Kitkat     Version – 4.4 to 4.4.1

Release date – Oct 2013 to Dec 2013


Here are the highlights of Kitkat 4.4:-

1.There are quite a lot of improvements in Kitkat 4.4.One of the best features of Kitkat is that it can do many things without touching the screen,for example you need to just say “Ok Google” on Home screen and on “Google Now” window and it will allow you to do a voice search, send a text message, get direction and also allow to play a song.It does all your useful works without even touching the screen.

2.Codename – Jelly Bean    Version – 4.1 to 4.3.1

Release date – July 2012 to Oct 2013


Some of the highlights of jelly bean 4.3 :-

1.One of the key features of jelly bean version is auto-complete ,once you start typing numbers, it shows the relevant contacts.

2.Google has improved face unlock feature in jelly bean, you can also optionally enable a blink which proves a person unlocking the phone is alive and phone is not getting unlocked with photo.

3.Text-to-speech is one of the most amazing feature of Jelly bean for example a pdf in english can be narrated by android in a chosen language, you can also choose the speed at which you want to hear.

 The major highlights of Honeycomb 3.0 version is as follows:-
